Leeds Arts University

Founded in 1846 as the Leeds Government School of Art and Design, Leeds Arts University has contributed significantly to the development of arts education in Britain and across the world for over 175 years.

As the only specialist arts University in the North of England, our award-winning facilities and expert tutors are dedicated to the study of creative arts subjects across postgraduate, undergraduate and further education courses. We invest heavily in our industry-standard facilities, recently opening a 800m² extension of our Blenheim Walk providing a roof garden, more studios, informal working spaces and café facilities, and a 24hr student hub.

We are a close-knit, diverse and creative community, where students are encouraged and nurtured to realise their talent, and to look for opportunities within the University and beyond. We seek out connections with industry partners to ensure we remain at the forefront of the creative sector, building networks and providing meaningful experiences that allow our students to thrive in their future creative careers.

We deliver a dynamic public programme of exhibitions, publications, talks, commissions, performances, symposia, across our two campuses and satellite display spaces. As the University Gallery, our Blenheim Walk Gallery contributes significantly to the institution’s research and educational curriculum, prioritising community engagement, practice-based research excellence, aesthetic and knowledge production.
